ORDERING A RING
If you would like to order a ring (having decided whether you would like one of the types shown here, or would prefer to have a ring designed for you - and on which finger of which hand you would like to wear it) I need to know your ring size. English ring sizes run in 1/2 sizes increasing from A-Z. Since fingers expand with heat and contract when cold it is important that your finger is measured when your hand is at a normal temperature. This is true of all hands, but particularly so if your fingers are fleshy rather than bony. With very bony fingers, half a size, or even 1/4 size, can be crucial.

The size of a ring is also affected by the width of the shank; the wider the shank, the larger the size needs to be. Therefore, if we are unable to meet so that I can measure your finger myself (or you are ordering a ring for somebody else) you have 2 alternatives:

  • Find a ring which fits the finger and is of the correct shank width and ask another jeweller to measure it for you.

  • Ask another jeweller to measure your finger for you, stating that it would be for a ring of the shank width given here.

If there is any doubt as to the size, I will make it to the smallest estimated size, since enlarging a ring is a very simple and quick process, taking no more than a few seconds. To make a ring smaller necessitates cutting it open, removing a section, soldering it back together and re-polishing. If the ring contains stones it becomes a bigger, and more expensive, job altogether

"BYZANTINE" style, with 2 stones 9 ct £295
"The stones, which are cut "en cabochon" (i.e. not facetted), are mainly tourmaline, for their great variety of beautiful colours, but also frequently include amethyst, aquamarine, garnet, peridot, etc. They may be round, oval or "fancy" and vary in size from 6 mm - 8 mm round, or 6x8 mm - 7x9 mm oval, on average, but the most important factor in choosing a pair of stones is the colour, as I want a visually interesting or exciting play between the two.

Av. Shank width 5-6 mm

All rings in the Byzantine range are individual, no two are the same, and all have a shaped shank, which curves downwards above and below the hand and rises up over the web between the fingers. This is not only decorative, but serves the purpose of helping to prevent the ring from turning over with the weight of the stones or gold beads on the front.

"BYZANTINE" 3-COLOUR GOLD
9 ct £150
18 ct £290
Similar to the 2-stone rings, but generally more compact. Each ring has 2 large, solid beads 1 of red and 1 of white gold in place of the stones.

"CADENZA" with opal or facetted stone
9 ct £295
Similar shank to the Byzantine range, but with a single, pear-shaped or oval stone which starts just above the shank at the top and runs further below, towards the knuckle. An unusual design which is also particularly good for a large stone, or if your fingers are not very long.
The design at the top of the stone varies from ring to ring.

3 WIRE AND SHOT
9 ct yellow £120
18 ct yellow or yellow and white £290
Three strands of 1.3 mm wire + solid beads (shot) of gold "randomly" placed in the spaces created. Also makes a good, hardwearing, and very different Wedding ring. Av. Shank width 7 mm

3 WIRE AND SHOT SILVER
1.5mm wire + 9ct £90
2.0mm wire + 18ct £105
Av. Shank width 7 mm and 9m

"SWIRL" , 9 ct + 10x8 mm OPAL TRIPLET
9 ct £120
1.5 mm wire curled twice around the finger and swirling round at each end to enclose the stone. Opal triplets have the depth of colour of solid blacks, but are layered stones; onyx or black glass below and a cap, usually of quartz, on top. Because there is adhesive involved in the structure of the stone, they should be kept out of water or damage can result - your chance to make someone else do the washing-up!
Please state the colours you would like in your stone.
